If you own a high-performance engine don't overlook a starter that struggles to turn over. The intense engine compression ratio of high-performance cars can burn out traditional OEM starters that are unable to get a car or truck pistons to move up and down fast enough. Adding a high torque starter and ignition system can add the extra cranking power a high-performance vehicle needs.
In addition, high-performance engines take up more space creating less room for the starter. High torque starters are lighter and smaller than an OEM starter to provide increased ground, oil pan, and header clearance. Turn over your engine reliably in the driveway or on the track and let P & A Smith Auto Maintenance install a new high-amp battery and high-torque mini starter today.
If you are restoring an older muscle car, P & A Smith Auto Maintenance can help you keep the power flowing by adding state of the art digital ignition controls, a performance distributor, and low-resistance ignition wires. Rely on the mechanics at P & A Smith Auto Maintenance to revitalize your older car's starter and ignition system with a new wiring harness, distributor cap, rotor and spark plugs. Stop by our auto repair shop in Cary and discuss your restoration today.

I’ve been coming to P&A Smith for past several years after a particularly bad experience with another well known Lexus place in Cary. Everyone here is very professional with great communication. On my last visit, in addition to addressing my check engine light, I asked them to replace engine and cabin air filters. I also asked them if they can find an extra screw for my engine air filter housing since I noticed that one screw was missing last year when I replaced the engine air filter myself. My car being of Japanese origin, it’s a pain to find the right metric screw :) When I went to pick up the car, Clint reminded me that the engine air filter was reusable and was barely dirty. Not only they didn’t replace it, they put 2 new matching screws on the engine air filter housing for me. It was a great reminder of honesty and extra service that bring me back to P&A Smith whenever I need some work done to keep my elderly car driving smooth.
